LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) - A 20-year-old Lewiston man has been found guilty of defacing American Indian pictographs on rock walls near Hells Gate State Park south of Lewiston. The Lewiston Tribune reports Freddie Bernal was convicted of spray-painting marijuana leaves on the rocks, causing more than $200,000 in damage. Archeologists hope to remove the spray paint to preserve the ancient markings.

MOSCOW, Idaho (AP) - A state lawmaker and the governor's budget director are among three finalists for the post of chief lobbyist for the University of Idaho. The Lewiston Tribune reports that the three finalists are Republican Sen. Joe Stegner of Lewiston; Idaho Division of Financial Management Administrator Wayne Hammon; and Idaho Grain Producers Executive Director Travis Jones. The final choice will be made Nov. 1.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) - Authorities say Boise woman was attacked and beaten in an apartment complex parking lot after she yelled at a driver to slow down. The Ada County Sheriff's Office says the woman was treated for broken facial bones at a hospital. A man and woman suspected in the attack were arrested a short time later.

POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) - Power County officials have released the name of the 16-year-old Pocatello High School student who died in a fall from rock cliffs at Bonanza Lake west of Pocatello. Officials say the body of Jaden Schenk was found at the bottom of the cliffs yesterday. Authorities say Schenk was in the area with friends camping and riding motorcycles.
